Heritage of Timisoara Illustrated

The exhibition features a selection of illustrations created between 2017 and 2025 as part of the Heritage of Timișoara project, an initiative of the Prin Banat Association dedicated to researching, documenting, and promoting the city’s cultural heritage.
Hosted in the faculty’s Mansard Gallery, this exhibition marks the start of a series of activities organized as part of the Heritage of Timișoara 2026–2027 program.

The volume represents a comprehensive study conducted between 2019 and 2022 and dedicated to public art in Timișoara after 1989.
The book launch took place at the Habitat B1 gallery with special guests, Smaranda Vultur and Camil Mihăescu, and at Book Fest, with special guest, Adriana Babeți.

The photographs in the exhibition were conceived as documentary tools. Later, for the exhibition, there was a need to reframe the perspective. The decision was made to decontextualize the images, eliminating the concrete background and replacing it with a fictional, purified space: neutral, monochrome fields, or minimal landscapes, reduced to the essential.
ISCH 2025
June 16-19, 2025 | Conference
The ISCH 2025 International Conference focused on Human/Nature – Entanglements in Cultural History from June 16-19. Liliana Mercioiu-Popa, lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Design Timișoara, participated in the cultural exchange at the University of Lapland, Rovaniemi, Finland.

The exhibition follows the visible and invisible thread of an experimental educational legacy, crystallized by the Sigma group in Timișoara in the 70s and 80s within the High School of Fine Arts, and continued organically through generations of artist-teachers and students of the current Faculty of Arts and Design in Timișoara.
